Last night Hillary Clinton became Rick Lazio

Remember Hillary's 2000 debate with Rick Lazio?  When she got ambushed on the first question by Tim Russert, who asked her to apologize for lying to the American people about her husband's infidelities?  And Rick Lazio, the smug little twit, lapped it up and joined in the pile-on?

Well, last night Hillary Clinton became Rick Lazio.

Poor Obama.... (2.00 / 0)

he couldn't hold his own.

Re: Poor Obama.... (2.00 / 1)

And this is why Obama inspires the support that he does.  He's the one mainstream candidate who answers stupid questions with, "Man, that's a stupid question."  Saying, "He's not good at playing the game," isn't a good response when you have the one person who is really trying to change the tenor of the debate.  Notice how he didn't pile on Clinton's Bosnia comments?

Re: Poor Obama.... (none / 0)

I think he inspires support for other things, not for his poor debate performances.

and that's why many.... (none / 0)

think Obama would be a bad nominee for the GE. You said it yourself; "He's not good at playing the game." That's a loser and the stakes are too high for that.

Re: and that's why many.... (none / 0)

He IS good at getting people to not care about the game though.  Look at how many mainstream media outlets are running with the spin that this was a horrible debate.  This sort of fighting isn't his strength, but it doesn't kill him and he has other strengths to make up for it.

You forgot the part.... (none / 0)

that the majority of the media thought that Obama did poorly. Poorly = loss; it's as simple as that.

Wow ... just when I thought diaries around here couldn't get any worse, this comes out. No insight, no analysis, no reference to anything. Four crude, offensive, condescending sentences. I'm so glad there's a two diary limit a day.

Re: Last night Hillary Clinton became Rick Lazio (none / 0)

Good analogy but not quite - Rick Lazio came off like a punk to me in the New York debate, as Hillary Clinton did last night.  But it was only when he actually crossed the stage and started waving a piece of paper in her face that I knew that other people would see it too.

What did people think of the debate last night?  Time will tell.

Obama just became the GWB (none / 0)

of this election (well he always ran a similar platform anyway). He needs either Tim Russert or Wolf Blitzer to lob softball questions at him otherwise he wails like a baby.

Re: Obama just became the GWB (none / 0)

Yes, Barack Obama is just like George W. Bush and is even running on a similar platform. I'm so glad you are not prone to ridiculous hyperbole.

What a foolish thing to say.

Actually, Charlie Gibson and George Stephanapolis came off as Rick Lazio clones...

Their biggest insult wasn't to the candidates, but to the Democratic party as a whole....

I think Hillary was more like Rudy Guiliani with her continuing 9/11 repug taling points.  We all know what happened to his presidential aspirations.
